Battlestar Galactica(TM) Jumps to PC and Xbox LIVE(R) Arcade

Interactive Game Inspired by Popular SCI FI Channel Series Now Available

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Sierra Online, a division of Vivendi Games, in conjunction with Universal Pictures Digital Platforms Group, has released Battlestar Galactica, an action-packed, space combat interactive game based on the popular television series produced by Universal Media Studios and airing on SCI FI Channel, for Windows PC and Xbox LIVE(R) Arcade.

Set in a distant part of the universe called the Twelve Colonies, players sign up to either defend the Galactica, or play as the ruthless Cylons as they seek to remove the human race from existence. Battlestar Galactica allows players to take part in enormous multiplayer space battles -- up to 16 players on PC or 8 on Xbox LIVE Arcade -- or play through the intense single-player campaign based on memorable missions from the TV series.

"It was really important to us from day one to make sure we created a game that is both true to the show and gamer approved," said Connie Brammeier, executive producer, Sierra Online. "We've successfully incorporated the overall feel of the series including visuals and memorable battles into the game while focusing on incredible gameplay, ensuring a great experience for gamers and fans of the show."

Features of the upcoming game include: -- Single-Player Campaign -- Pilot various ships and complete 10 memorable missions from the TV series. -- Multiplayer Game Mode -- Play online in this relentless space-based action shooter in Domination, Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch modes. (8 players on Xbox LIVE Arcade and 16 players on Windows PC) -- Legendary Spaceships -- Fly 4 Human and 4 Cylon ships from the Viper II to the Cylon Raider, each with unique weapon capabilities. -- Special Weapons -- Coordinate attacks with an arsenal of destructive weapons including the missiles, guns and more. -- Defensive Maneuvers -- Avoid annihilation with the barrel roll, flip turn and other aerial moves.

Battlestar Galactica is rated E 10+ and will be available for Windows PC at retail outlets nationwide as well as top online gaming portals and the official game website at http://www.bsgarcade.com/ for $19.99. An Xbox LIVE Arcade version of the game will be available for 800 Microsoft points on Xbox LIVE Marketplace. For more information on the Battlestar Galactica video game or to download a free trial visit http://www.bsgarcade.com/. News of sweepstakes and tournaments will also be available.

To celebrate the release of the game, fans of the series will be able to download Razor Flashbacks from Xbox LIVE Marketplace in the coming weeks that whet Battlestar fans' appetites for the upcoming SCI FI Channel special two-hour Battlestar Galactica episode: Razor. Razor, which will serve as a backdrop for the events of season four of Battlestar Galactica, tells the story of Lee Adama's first mission as the commander of the battlestar Pegasus -- and the harrowing tale of that ship's desperate fight for survival in the immediate aftermath of the Cylon's genocidal siege of the Twelve Colonies.

About Battlestar Galactica

Battlestar Galactica is the gripping drama of human survival against unimaginable odds. When the Cylon robots rose against their human creators, they launched a devastating nuclear attack that left less than 50,000 survivors. On the run and in search of a new home, the last remnants of humanity struggle against waning supplies, weapons and hope. Redefining the space opera with its gritty realism, Galactica's intensity, issues-driven topicality, and command performances have garnered it unprecedented critical acclaim. The show has also been honored with the prestigious George Foster Peabody Award, an Emmy, and been lauded by the American Film Institute (AFI) as one of the most outstanding programs on television for two years running. Battlestar Galactica returns to SCI FI in early 2008 for its fourth and final season.
