More Than 100,000 Customers Choose AT&T U-verse Over Cable

New Interactive Features To Roll Out Beginning This Month

SAN ANTONIO, Sept. 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) today announced that AT&T U-verse(SM) TV has surpassed 100,000 customers, marking another significant milestone for the nation's largest deployment of Internet Protocol-based television (IPTV) service. In addition, AT&T outlined plans to enhance the U-verse TV experience by rolling out compelling new interactive features and content beginning later this month.

AT&T U-verse customers will soon begin receiving several new features that further differentiate U-verse TV from cable-based services, including:

-- AT&T U-bar, which brings Internet-like content to the television screen in the form of customized weather, stock, traffic and sports information. -- YELLOWPAGES.COM TV, an intuitive new way to search for local businesses and other information using http://www.yellowpages.com/. -- AT&T Yahoo! Games, available on the television screen, including Sudoku, Solitaire, JT's Blocks, Mah-Jongg Tiles and Chess.

In addition to these new features, AT&T U-verse TV will soon launch new content, including more High Definition (HD) channels. This expanded lineup builds on AT&T's already robust channel offerings. New channels scheduled to be added by the end of this year include Lifetime Movie Network HD, History Channel HD, Animal Planet HD, TBS HD and Versus/The Golf Channel HD.

"We've reached today's milestone less than a year after we began scaling this service into multiple markets," said Randall Stephenson, AT&T chairman and CEO. "Today, we offer U-verse across nine states, and we've added new features that you can't currently get with any other provider. We look forward to continuing our U-verse growth in the months and years ahead."

To celebrate the 100,000th-customer milestone, AT&T is providing a complimentary Home Technology Makeover to the Pierson family of Los Angeles. The makeover includes a Tatung 42-inch LCD HDTV, Toshiba HD DVD player, Hewlett-Packard notebook personal computer, Blackberry Curve, a portable DVD player courtesy of Showtime Networks, an AT&T cordless phone and a prize pack that features HBO Sports apparel and original series DVDs, a Discovery Channel Planet Earth HD DVD box set, a NBC Universal movie gift pack, as well as DVDs from Showtime Networks, Lionsgate and Starz Entertainment. The family will also receive 12 months of the AT&T U-verse TV U400 package and AT&T Yahoo! High Speed Internet Pro at no charge.

AT&T is the only national service provider to offer a 100 percent IP-based television service, making U-verse TV one of the most advanced television offerings available anywhere. The company has added 97,000 new customers since the end of 2006 and was recently awarded the 2007 "Best Business Strategy" award by industry analyst firm Stratecast. AT&T's fiber-rich network currently passes approximately 5 million living units, with service available to nearly half of those households.

The deployment of next-generation video services reflects AT&T's strategy to become customers' preferred communications and entertainment provider and to deliver a video solution that provides greater value, flexibility and simplicity than competitors' offerings. AT&T U-verse TV represents a critical new service in the company's video portfolio, which includes AT&T Homezone(SM) service and satellite broadcast offerings. AT&T U-verse TV also underscores the company's strategy to deliver integrated services to the three screens that consumers value most: the TV, the PC and the wireless phone.
