Genesis Launches First Tour in 15 Years

North American Leg of 'Turn It On Again' Tour Kicked Off With Historic Performance at BMO Field in Toronto

TORONTO, Sept. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Genesis kicked off their 'Turn It On Again' Tour, their first N. American tour in 15 years, on September 7th with a historic performance at Toronto's BMO Field. Genesis will go down in history as the first band to inaugurate the new stadium. The band rocked the massive stage to 26,000 excited fans with songs from their incredible catalogue of hits.

After playing to almost 1.5 million fans and selling out some of the world's largest venues on the critically-acclaimed European leg of their 'Turn It On Again' Tour, the band will hit 20 different cities across N. America, playing a series of arenas and stadiums.

The sheer scale of the set for the 'Turn It On Again' Tour is hugely impressive with the largest screen ever used at a stadium concert spanning a 213 foot width and rising to 39 feet. The set is designed by world-famous Mark Fisher; the spectacular lighting show is the work of genius Patrick Woodroffe.

Genesis has sold over 130 million albums. It is one of a small group of elite British bands who have achieved global success and sustained it with a loyal fan base. Genesis was formed in 1966 by Tony Banks, Peter Gabriel, Mike Rutherford and Anthony Phillips, while still at school, but it's most successful incarnation was the late 70's early 80's line-up of Phil Collins taking on lead vocals and sharing song writing, with Rutherford and Banks. The Duke album topped the UK charts in 1980 with the hit single, "Turn It On Again" monopolising the airwaves. In 1987, Genesis played sold out stadium shows across the globe, including four consecutive shows at Wembley Stadium in London, England.

Genesis is set to reissue their four most commercially successful studio albums on October 1, 2007. The box set and individual albums form the second stage of the band reissuing all their 14 studio albums. The albums will be released in 5.1 surround sound and stereo mixes and will be available on SACD/CD hybrid and DVD dual disc sets containing unique bonus material.

This stage of the reissues contains Genesis' most successful albums (selling over 40 million on CD alone): Genesis (1983); Invisible Touch (1986); We Can't Dance (1991); and Calling All Stations (1997). The first three all reached the top spot of the UK album chart during the time of their original release. We Can't Dance marks the last studio album with Phil Collins on vocal duties while Calling All Stations is the only Genesis album with vocalist Ray Wilson.
