Bodog Music Battle of the Bands 2007 Winner Fall From Grace Awarded $1 Million Recording Contract with Bodog Music
LOS ANGELES, Sept. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Seattle rock band Fall From Grace are the official winners of the first-ever Bodog Music Battle of the Bands. Their win aired live September on the series finale at the House of Blues in Los Angeles on the fuse network. Fans made the ultimate decision by voting via SMS text messaging, and the Seattle-based foursome Fall From Grace was awarded the $1 million dollar Bodog Music record contract. Battle finalists Blaxmyth and Fear Nuttin' Band also performed at the packed venue.
Musicians and celebrities, such as A. Jay from Lit, John 5, Fletcher Dragge from Pennywise, Scott Shiflett of Viva Death (ex-Face To Face), members of I am Ghost, rock drummer Carmine Appice, Chris Slade (ex-AC/DC), actor Anthony Michael Hall, actress Rena Riffel and Average Joe bachelorette Anna Chudoba, joined Bodog Music Battle of the Bands judges Johnny Rotten of the Sex Pistols and Public Image Limited (PiL), Billy Duffy of The Cult and punk-goddess/Bodog Music recording artist Bif Naked, along with host Stryker (co-host of syndicated radio show "Loveline") at the show's live finale.
During the competition more than 7,000 bands registered and performed at 350 battle showcases throughout the U.S. The field was then narrowed down to 10 lucky semi-finalists that competed in the Bodog Music Battle of the Bands reality TV series. Over the past four weeks, the 10 bands traveled across the U.S., performing showcases for local fans and completing a series of hardcore challenges designed to test their abilities as a rock band. Eliminating one band each episode, the show featured live performances from the competing artists and criticisms as well as praises brought to them by the panel of expert judges. "Tour manager" Stryker guided the bands through their collective experience along with a crew of music biz notables, who mentored the musicians on their path to the $1 million grand-prize recording contract and live on-air finale.
"Our whole team is stoked that Fall From Grace won the first ever Bodog Music Battle of the Bands. We know that we can really help the band achieve the success that their fans and our audience know they deserve. We'll be putting them in the studio to record, and they'll be releasing their first Bodog Music album in 2008. Then, its back on the road for those guys," notes Bodog Entertainment Founder Calvin Ayre. "Now we are gearing up for the second battle and taking it to Canada and Europe as well as the U.S., so we are sure to find even more great artists for Bodog Music."
