Retirement Living TV Strengthens C-Suite Team with Appointment of G4 Network Founder Charles Hirschhorn

New Chief Creative Officer Brings Unparalleled Business and Content Leadership to the Country's First Network for Those 55+

COLUMBIA, Md., Aug. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Retirement Living TV, the first cable network dedicated to people age 55+, announced today the appointment of Charles Hirschhorn as its Chief Creative Officer, responsible for all programming, production and marketing. Hirschhorn brings a rich and varied entertainment and strategic development career to the network. He founded G4: Videogame Television which is now owned and operated by Comcast; he has served as a producer on numerous major motion pictures that range from "Herbie: Fully Loaded" to "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" and "Bull Durham," and helped develop more than 20 other films. He has served as president of Walt Disney Television and TV Animation as well as Vice President of Development for Fox Broadcasting.

"Charles' knowledge of the industry and his entrepreneurial spirit will help strengthen our network and broaden our visibility across the board," said President of Retirement Living TV Brad Knight. "His passion for the cable industry will prove critical in growing the 55+ television market."

Retirement Living TV is the only television network dedicated to informing and empowering Americans 55+. In addition to Hirschhorn, Retirement Living TV has assembled an outstanding team of top professionals to reflect the fastest-growing demographic in the United States. Today, every 8.5 seconds an American turns 60; soon the single largest demographic will be those over 55. Television, just like cities and every major company in the country, is preparing to address this new and powerful consumer group.

"Having been involved in the launch of FOX and G4, I think Retirement Living TV represents another great programming opportunity for an underserved demographic," said Hirschhorn.

Prior to Retirement Living TV, Hirschhorn conceived G4 Television in 2000. Serving as CEO from 2000 to 2005, he developed the original channel business model, secured $150 million in financing, and oversaw the channel's launch in 2002, with 12 originally-produced series. Hirschhorn managed the $300 million acquisition and integration of TechTV into G4 Television in 2004. Overseeing all programming, advertising sales, affiliate sales, marketing, online, finance, legal and human resources, Hirschhorn grew G4 Television into its category-leading position with more than 350 employees in three offices (Los Angeles, New York City, Detroit), $50 million in revenue, and more than 53 million cable and satellite subscribers.

Prior to creating G4 Television, Hirschhorn spent 10 years at The Walt Disney Company in various management roles in motion pictures, television and animation. He began at Disney as vice president of production, helping to launch Disney's newest studio, Hollywood Pictures, and moved on to become executive vice president, where he managed the development and production of over 20 movies, including "The Joy Luck Club," "Quiz Show" and "The Santa Clause."

Hirschhorn next took on the role of president of Walt Disney Television and Television Animation. Responsible for over 1200 employees with an annual operating budget of $400 million and revenues of $800 million, Hirschhorn oversaw all live-action films airing on "The Wonderful World of Disney" -- which he re-launched on ABC in 1997 -- as well as all animated television series and theatricals for ABC, Disney Channel, Disney Video Premieres and Movietoons. Concurrently, he served as executive vice president of production for the Walt Disney Motion Pictures Group.

Before joining Disney, Hirschhorn was vice president of development for Fox Broadcasting, where he helped launch the Fox Network and managed the network's primetime programming, personally developing the Emmy(R) Award-winning series "In Living Color."
