Episode 2 of Michigan's New Outdoor Experience TV Show Debuts October 9

LANSING, Mich., Oct. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Wild Weekend, Michigan Edition -- the perfect antidote for "couch potatoes" looking to kick the habit -- roars into week two of its statewide run on Comcast Local this Sunday, October 9, 2005, at 11:00 AM. Wild Weekend is a celebration of Michigan's outdoor activities, and is scheduled to run for 13 weeks.

"The program accurately depicts the fun and exciting activities that Michigan has to offer," says Dave Lorenz, Vice President of Travel Michigan.

The goal of the show is to get families outside all year long to enjoy all the abundance of fantastic activities Michigan has to offer. The activities Wild Weekend explores are intentionally off-the-beaten-path.

Michigan is unique in that it has so much to offer the outdoor enthusiast. Did you know that within a short drive you can go on a weekend dog sledding trip in the Upper Peninsula? Sleep in the snow under the stars, learn how camping in the snow can be as warm as sleeping on a sunny beach, and mush a genuine Iditarod dog team completely on your own. Wild Weekend will show you where and how!

Wild Weekend will show its viewers that Michigan has some of the most extensive and highly rated snowmobile trails in the Midwest. Viewers will find that an awesome sled ride is as close as Gaylord, and for as little as $75, a thrill ride of a lifetime awaits.

Ever wanted to parachute? Wild Weekend will take you to Mt. Pleasant to show you how the Drop Zone specializes in first time jumpers. Viewers will free-fall with the host and see first hand exactly what it would take for them to attempt this themselves.

Byron Goggin, host of Wild Weekend, is a six-time Emmy Award winning writer/producer and photojournalist who has been creating outdoor segments for Fox Sports Net for the past four years. Byron is a native Michigander, growing up in the rural Upper Peninsula where he spent his childhood exploring the lakes, streams and woodlands of Michigan.

Travel Michigan, a division of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, is the State of Michigan's official agency for the promotion of tourism. Travel Michigan markets the state's tourism industry and provides valuable visitor information services.
