Trick or Treat - With Halloween Approaching 'Wicked' Really Heats Up

Trick or Treat - With Halloween Approaching 'Wicked' Really Heats Up

Demand Continues to Climb as 'Wicked' Ticket Sales Are the Highest Overall According to the September TicketsNow Entertainment Index

CHICAGO, Oct. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Initially the question was, How will 'it' do? Now the question is, How long will 'this' last? For the ninth consecutive month, Wicked held on to the top spot for theater tickets, and pushed its way to the #1 most popular event overall according to the September TicketsNow Entertainment Index. Despite an exciting month of baseball and the Rolling Stones in the heart of their first tour since 2003, ticket sales for Wicked accounted for a third of all theater sales in September and more sales than three of the top concerts -- Rolling Stones, U2, and Paul McCartney -- combined.

The Rolling Stones dropped to #2 overall after holding the top spot in August. Former Beatles heartthrob Paul McCartney shot "Across the Universe" and proved that "All You Need Is Love" by jumping into the top 10, at the seventh spot in overall ticket sales. But Sir Paul could use a little "Help" as he looks to overtake U2 as the second most popular concert. The men from Ireland maintained their position at #2.

Despite winning the American League East for the eighth consecutive year, the New York Yankees dropped to eighth overall in ticket sales behind their rival, the Boston Red Sox. This is the second consecutive drop-off for the Bronx Bombers who back in July were the most popular sports ticket.

TicketsNow.com, the world's largest and most trusted online marketplace for secondary event tickets also saw the Dallas Cowboys hustle their way to the top ticket in sports and #3 overall. A 4-0 start to the season brought the Cincinnati Bengals into the top 10 as well.

Following are the category leaders for September:
