RNs Invited to 'Celebrate Nursing with Naomi Judd'
PHOENIX, Oct. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Registered nurses across America can tune in to a once-in-a-lifetime event with country music legend Naomi Judd while shares her homespun wit and hard-earned wisdom with RNs at John C. Lincoln Hospitals in Phoenix.
Nurses who log onto www.JCL.com at 3 p.m. MST Oct. 12 can join the audience for an international webcast featuring the Grammy award-winning singer-songwriter, author -- and former nurse. Webcast pre-registration is now available at www.JCL.com.
If necessary, a media player will be automatically downloaded into viewers' computers so they can "Celebrate Nursing with Naomi Judd." Naomi will discuss a subject she knows well -- the rewards of helping others through a career in nursing. Nurses who miss the live performance can see it later by checking the archives at www.JCL.com.
"Naomi is a natural choice to speak to nurses," says Sue Hanauer, RN, John C.'s vice president for Patient Care Services. "She knows their world; she's been there."
"I learned more about myself," says Judd, "by being an RN than anything else I've ever done."
As a young woman, long before she became part of the famous country music duo with daughter Wynonna, Naomi pulled herself out of an abusive relationship, went on welfare, put herself through nursing school and worked as an ICU nurse to support her children. Those now-famous daughters, singer Wynonna and actress Ashley, reaped the benefits of being raised by a mom who relied on her faith in God, her sense of humor and her belief that "a dead-end street is a good place to turn around."
"We think Naomi is an inspiration for nurses everywhere," Hanauer observes. "She made her own breaks, never settled for less than she deserved."
Naomi and a panel of nurses will field questions from web viewers via email.
