Real Estate Company Baird & Warner and Radio Station Love FM (100.3) Have Joined Forces to Participate in National Day of Community Service on Oct. 22

Making a Difference - Neighbor to Neighbor

CHICAGO, Oct. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Saturday, October 22 is national "Make A Difference Day." Family owned real estate brokerage firm Baird & Warner and popular radio station 100.3 Love FM will be throughout Chicago and the suburbs making a difference in all sorts of ways -- from collecting items for people displaced by the hurricanes to helping local homeless shelters, cleaning up parks and visiting nursing homes and hospitals -- even building a home. Baird & Warner's volunteer and philanthropic initiative, the Baird & Warner Good Will Network, is the force behind this effort.

"With all the hardship from the recent hurricanes in addition to need in general, this is the best way that all of us at Baird & Warner can get together and make a difference in the communities in which we live and work," said Gailene Cowger, member, board of advisors, Baird & Warner Good Will Network.

All of Baird & Warner's 31 branch offices will host a collection drive from October 15 through October 22 to collect gift cards, white crew socks and canned goods. All collected items will be given to PADS (a network of suburban shelters) and then distributed to people displaced to the Chicago area as a result of the hurricanes. Additionally, each branch office is doing something different, depending on interest, local need, etc. Projects underway include:

-- Baird & Warner's headquarters office is hosting an "un-shower" to benefit HOW (Housing Opportunities for Women), for which party guests will bring items from the organization's "wish list" - just like for a baby or bridal shower. Event organizers have registered at Target and with other retailers. -- Baird & Warner's Glenview, Highland Park, and Lake Forest offices have teamed up on a project to benefit the Glenkirk organization, for which they will refurbish a half-dozen homes that house developmentally challenged persons. -- Baird & Warner's City West office is helping the Gospel League Homeless Shelter by cleaning up and painting the shelter's playground. They've also secured the head chef of Rosebud (on Taylor) to make a 4-star meal for the residents and staff of the shelter. -- Baird & Warner's Downers Grove office is working with filltheirtrucks.org, a local project that is collecting, sorting and delivering food, household and school supplies to Gulf Coast residents who were affected by the hurricanes. -- And at the same time, Baird & Warner branch managers and company executives will be in Mexico building homes for the organization Homes for Hope.

Baird & Warner offices will be volunteering in the following communities: Arlington Heights, Barrington, Bolingbrook, Buffalo Grove, Carpentersville, Chicago, Des Plaines, Downers Grove, Evanston, Crystal Lake, Glenview, Glen Ellyn, Grayslake, Highland Park, Hinsdale, Lake Forest, Libertyville, Mt. Prospect, Naperville, Oak Park, Olympia Fields, Orland Park, Palatine, Park Ridge, Schaumburg, St. Charles, Wheaton, and Winnetka.

Now in its 14th year, Make a Difference Day is the largest single day of volunteering in the nation, bringing 3 million people together to make a difference in the lives of others.

Baird & Warner's charitable initiative -- the Baird & Warner Good Will Network -- is funded with $10 from every company transaction, in addition to employee donations, voluntary payroll deductions and proceeds from special events. In three years, it has raised over $500,000 for area non-profit organizations, with a special emphasis on those that work with the homeless.

Celebrating 150 years in business in 2005, Baird & Warner has grown to 33 offices throughout Chicago and its suburbs, with over 1,850 sales professionals serving more than 300 communities. The company enjoys annual residential sales volume of over $6.2 billion. Baird & Warner has evolved over the years to become a one-stop-shopping experience for its clients, offering an integrated family of services all under one roof -- residential brokerage, mortgage, title, and home services. Baird & Warner's website http://www.bairdwarner.com/ is continually rated as the "#1 Real Estate Website in Chicagoland."
