New Poll By Lifetime Television/Entertainment Industries Council, Inc., Shows Americans Support Harsher Penalties for Human Trafficking and More Protection for 'Mail Order Brides'

A new poll shows Americans support harsher penalties for human trafficking and more protection for "mail order brides." The poll by Lifetime Television and the Entertainment Industries Council found that 55 percent of Americans believe that human trafficking is a major problem within our borders, and 45 percent actually feel it is happening in or near their own communities. A majority say that human trafficking should carry the harshest penalties, versus drug trafficking or gun trafficking. Congress recently passed bipartisan legislation governing international marriage brokers. The survey was released in advance of the October 24th world premiere of Lifetime Television's first original miniseries, "Human Trafficking," starring award- winning actors Mira Sorvino and Donald Sutherland.

NOAA Announces 2005-2006 U.S. Winter Outlook

Fifty-Eight Percent of Hiring Managers Plan to Recruit Seasonal Employees in the Fourth Quarter

Fifty-eight percent of hiring managers surveyed by CareerBuilder.com said they're going to need extra hands on deck in the fourth quarter to meet increased business demands associated with the holidays and end-of-the-year wrap-ups. Twenty-eight percent expect to increase pay levels for seasonal employees over last year, while only 6 percent plan to decrease them. The survey, "Seasonal Hiring 2005," was conducted prior to the events surrounding hurricanes Katrina and Rita and included over 875 hiring managers across all industries nationwide.
