Can't Make it to the Rainbow Room's $1500 a Person New Year's Eve Show? You've Got Five Chances to See it First... For Much Less

ARLINGTON, Va., Oct. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- If you're a savvy adult looking for an evening of dining, dancing, and entertainment in the Washington D.C. metro area and nothing short of the best will do, you have five chances before the end of the year. Doc Scantlin and his Imperial Palms Orchestra, the band of choice for royal weddings and international galas, as well as the Big Apple's most exclusive and expensive New Year's Eve show, is presenting a short series of their popular 1930's supper club events at the Clarendon Ballroom in Arlington.

Granted, the Clarendon Ballroom, for all its charm, does not have the skyline view of the historic Rainbow Room, high atop Rockefeller Center. It is a warm and lovely Deco-styled ballroom cleverly renovated from a 1920's five & dime. When Scantlin and his troupe appear, the show, the music, the costumes, and the chorus girls will be exactly what the Swells will enjoy for New Year's. At the Clarendon Ballroom, a fine three course dinner is being offered for $80, $95 for the premium front tables, or you can come just for cocktails and dancing for $20.

Dapper Doc, in his white tie, tails, and spats, along with his glamour girl wife and lead singer, Chou Chou (shoo shoo), takes you through an evening of American Popular Music from the 1920's, 30's and 40's. Their bag of tricks includes a 27 person ensemble, including the four singing, dancing, "Girlfriends," a lively 15 piece band, and the popular and leggy "Coconut Girls," who interact with the guests and perform Busby Berkelyesque dance routines. All of the band's music can be danced to; in fact it covers most ballroom dance styles, but it is presented in such an entertaining way that you may forget to dance. This makes it ideal for a non-dancer to enjoy. They are considered a Washington institution, and among their many accolades, have been dubbed by Forbes Magazine as "The Best Band In America." They do not tour, and are rarely seen at events open to the public.

"These events are our chance to party with our local friends on an off night and make the price affordable," says the pencil-mustached maestro. "It's always an amazingly fun mix of all ages, just really classy people having fun together."

Valet parking is available for $7, and there's plenty of street parking. There's a public garage nearby, and the Clarendon Metro station is 1 1/2 blocks away. Don't forget to dress to the nines.
