Roy Orbison, one of the music industry's greatest legends, is renowned for his amazing voice and stirring songwriting. With numerous Grammy awards, his induction to the Rock and Roll and Songwriters Hall of Fame, his career spanned four decades with multiple number 1 hits; most notably, the classic "Oh, Pretty Woman."

Last week, Jed Hilly, Vice President of Orbison Records, represented Roy's widow, Mrs. Barbara Orbison, on Capitol Hill, where he met with many of our nation's leaders asking for their support for the issuance of a stamp.

"The response has been incredible," said Hilly. "Everyone here in Washington is tremendously supportive, and the time has come for Roy to get his stamp." Added Barbara Orbison in Nashville, "Roy touched so many lives; he made a tremendous impact on every single soul that heard his sound."

Efforts supporting the Roy Orbison stamp campaign include multiple petitions, one that is circulating the House of Representatives, which, as of today, already has the support of over 45 representatives and growing daily. Additionally, Tennessee Senators Frist and Alexander have pledged their support on the Senate side. Another public on-line petition (http://www.petitiononline.com/royvote/petition.html) has garnered over 2,000 names in the last few weeks, and has been signed by some of the industries most notable personalities including Bono of U2, Olivia Harrison (widow of Beatles great George Harrison) and many others.
