DC Shoes' First Snowboard Video Hits Shops

DC Shoes' First Snowboard Video Hits Shops

VISTA, Calif., Oct. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- After a year of capturing some of the best park riding on film at the DC Mtn. lab, one of the season's most highly anticipated snowboarding videos has been completed and is set to be released. The Mtn. Lab Video is the first snowboarding video from DC and has generated buzz throughout the snowboarding community at packed premieres in San Diego and Park City, UT. The video's packaging includes a 120-page full color book with photos and stories gathered throughout the Lab's existence, since the DC Mtn. Lab, DC's private snowboard training and R&D facility in Utah's Wasatch Mountains, was first conceived by DC President Ken Block in 1999.

"The Mtn. Lab has been such a great asset for DC and there are so many stories that have come out of there," said Ken. "So we decided to capture it all on film and create a video that represents what goes on there on a daily basis. We couldn't have found a better person to document the fun than Pierre Wikberg. His style and success with his past videos (Robot Food's After Bang, Lame and After Lame) made him the obvious choice because we wanted something that could showcase our riders' talents but also could show how much fun can be had at the Lab. Pierre exceeded my expectations for this project. That's saying a lot if you know me and DC! Thanks, Pierre!"

Pierre filmed, directed and edited the Mtn. Lab Video from January of this year through August and pulled all elements together to document what goes on at one of the best private snowboarding facilities on earth. "I'm psyched to see what people think of the whole package," Pierre said. "I'm happy with the reactions we have gotten so far but I'm more psyched to see what people think of it after lounging in their couch looking through the book, watching the video and peeping some of the bonus features. There's lots in here we can be proud of."

Pat Bridges, Senior Editor of Snowboarder Magazine sums up his reaction to the video by saying: "It is really impressive to put a project together mostly around one spot and have it all seem original from start to finish. I 'm really stoked on it and I think kids will be too," he said.

Snowboarder Magazine Photo Editor Joel Muzzey agrees. "I am psyched to be among one of the first to see it," he said. "DC has done it again...they should be really proud of the production. I'm stoked that kids all over will get DC's visual treats of fun, solid riding, Renee Renee, all of it. It's really sick. Shred rats are gonna freakin' wig when they see this."

The format of the 30-minute video begins following Ken Block making the first tracks on a powder day at the Mtn. lab. Viewers are then treated to action footage of the entire DC snow squad, including Travis Rice, Todd Richards, Travis Parker, Devun Walsh, Bjorn Leines, Eddie Wall, Simon Chamberlain, Jake Welch and Priscilla Levac. While most of the fast-paced park riding takes place at the Lab, the DC squad hits the road on a mid-winter break trip to notable spots in Utah's backcountry, Montana, Northstar-at-Tahoe and Breckenridge. DVD bonus features include trick tips, interviews, behind- the-scenes footage and more. There are also plenty of Mtn. Lab guests in starring roles and cameo appearances, including riding scenes of Renee Renee and Sal Masakela, and Big Black on a Shred Sled.

DC rider and rail jam champion Eddie Wall sums the video up best: "This movie makes me want to grab my board and go snowboarding more then any other snowboarding movie I have ever seen, period," he said. "To me that is the highest goal a DVD can achieve."

The DC Mtn. Lab Video will hit snowboarding shops around the world and is priced at $29.99.
