Bloomberg News and Los Angeles Times to Conduct Opinion Polls

NEW YORK and LOS ANGELES, Oct. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Bloomberg News(R) and the Los Angeles Times today announced that the two news organizations will jointly conduct national public opinion polls.

Beginning in January, Bloomberg News/Los Angeles Times Polls will survey public attitudes about government and politics, economics and finance, international affairs and social and cultural issues.

The polls will be conducted by the Los Angeles Times polling unit, headed by Susan Pinkus. They will be conceived and designed jointly by Bloomberg News and the Los Angeles Times.

"The Los Angeles Times Poll is one of the best polling operations in the nation," said Dean Baquet, editor, Los Angeles Times. "This collaboration with Bloomberg News will enable us to have a far wider reach and bigger impact."

"Bloomberg News reaches the world's most affluent and influential news audience via the Bloomberg Professional(R) service," said Matt Winkler, Editor-in-Chief of Bloomberg News. "In cooperation with the Los Angeles Times, Bloomberg News, Bloomberg Television(R) and Bloomberg Radio(SM) will now deliver the highest quality, most relevant public opinion results to the people who most need to know."

The joint polling will be coordinated by Doyle McManus, the Los Angeles Times Washington bureau chief, and Albert Hunt, Washington Executive Editor of Bloomberg News.
