Alpine Pictures, Inc. Has Joined the Membership of the Independent Film & Television Alliance

BURBANK, Calif., Oct. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- The Independent Film & Television Alliance (IFTA) is the global trade association of the independent motion picture and television programming industry. Headquartered in Los Angeles, the organization represents and provides significant entertainment industry services to more than 160 member companies from 22 countries, consisting of independent production and distribution companies, sales agents, television companies, studio-affiliated companies, and financial institutions engaged in film finance. Forty percent of the IFTA's membership is from outside the U.S. Collectively; the IFTA's members produce more than 400 independent films and countless hours of television programming each year and generate more than $4 billion in distribution revenues annually. The organization's premiere event, the American Film Market, will take place November 2 - 9, 2005 in Santa Monica.

As the voice and advocate for the independent film and television industry worldwide, the Alliance speaks out on matters of critical importance and where appropriate, actively lobbies governments around the world in regard to measures directly affecting the independent industry. Most recently, IFTA played a key role in the drafting and lobbying for provisions within the American Jobs Creation Act -- signed into law in 2004 -- that offer production incentives in the U.S.

I.F.T.A. exhibits at several prominent international markets and festivals, hosting centers for members to conduct business, network and obtain essential tools and information. The calendar includes NATPE in January, MIPTV in March, the CANNES FILM MARKET and MIPCOM in October.

Alpine pictures will have a strong presence at the world's largest film markets through 2006, where Alpine will distribute existing product, acquire new product for distribution and solidify pre sales for future films Rene Torres, API's President of International Sales, recently attended the Toronto International Film Festival. The Toronto International Film Festival, one of several programming initiatives of the Toronto International Film Festival Group, is widely recognized as the most important film festival after Cannes and the largest and most successful public festival in the world.

Ryan Carroll, CEO, represented Alpine pictures at Canada's Calgary International Film Festival. The Calgary International Film Festival Society was established in 1999 as a non-profit organization providing an annual world-class cinema event for the citizens of Calgary and area.

Alpine Pictures, Inc., in association with Box Office Productions, LLC has submitted the feature film, Love is the Drug to The Sundance Film Festival as well as Slamdance in Los Angeles. Official acceptance to both is pending. This will represent the US debut of the film. With the talent attached, Love is the Drug is expected to garner a lot of critical acclaim. Private screenings and theatrical release dates have not been set. Both Sundance and Slamdance are scheduled to take place January 19 - 29, 2006 in Park City, Utah.

The Slamdance Film Festival has remained true to its founding mandate that it is a festival "By Filmmakers, For Filmmakers."
