Teksouth Joins With NBC13's 'Neighbors in Need' Program, Providing Assistance to Victims of Hurricane Katrina

BIRMINGHAM, Ala., Sept. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Teksouth Corporation (http://www.teksouth.com/), a provider of data warehouse and data transfer technologies, today announced it is partnering with Birmingham's WVTM-TV (NBC13) in the station's "Neighbors in Need" drive, to help raise money for the millions of people throughout the Southeast affected by this week's devastating Hurricane Katrina.

Teksouth is making a donation to the American Red Cross, and will assist NBC13 personnel in collecting money for the Red Cross today and tomorrow, at the Summit Birmingham shopping mall.

The hurricane left more than $25 billion in damage in its wake; the Red Cross has specifically requested monetary donations as the best way of obtaining the goods needed to provide help to the victims of the storm.

"We are pleased to have Teksouth as a partner as part of our 'Neighbors in Need' effort," said Terese Messick, NBC13's Community Projects Manager. "It's important that our community comes together at a time like this and demonstrate our firm commitment to help others. Teksouth is taking a leading role in doing precisely that. In doing so, we're working together to help bring assistance to the hurricane victims in Alabama and other states who have lost virtually everything they ever owned."

"There are people out there who need assistance, and our partnership with NBC13 will play a small role in providing them that relief," said Steve Wilsher, Teksouth's founder and CEO. "It's times like this when both individuals and organizations can make a difference -- regardless of the size of their contributions. The magnitude of tragedy being endured by residents of the Gulf Coast region is immense. By coming together, and giving what we can, we will help each other through this ordeal."

Teksouth and NBC13 volunteers will be collecting contributions at the Summit Birmingham through tomorrow evening; people who wish to donate money to the Red Cross but cannot do so in person are urged to visit the Red Cross website, http://www.redcross.org/.
