Rush Limbaugh Wins Marconi Award
LOS ANGELES, Sept. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Last night at the 2005 National Association of Broadcasters Marconi Radio Awards Dinner and Show, the radio industry's "Oscars," Mr. Rush Limbaugh won "Network Syndicated Personality of the Year." It is the fourth time he has won this prestigious award.
Mr. Limbaugh stated, "I would like to once again thank my audience for making this possible. Their loyalty and support are unprecedented and I am grateful. And I am the first to realize that this kind of recognition doesn't come without the help, support and partnership of each and every single radio station carrying my program. I appreciate them all and will never take them for granted. Even 18 years into this phase of my career, I am still humbled by this award."
Established in 1989, and named after inventor and Nobel Prize winner Guglielmo Marconi, the NAB Marconi Radio Awards are given to radio stations and outstanding on-air personalities to recognize excellence in radio. An independent task force selected finalists and ballots were sent to members of the NAB Marconi Radio Awards Selection Academy in August. The ballots were tabulated by RSM McGladrey.
Known as the media pundit who reshaped the political landscape with his entertaining and informative brand of conservatism, Mr. Limbaugh is also widely credited with resuscitating AM radio by many industry experts. Heard by nearly 20 million weekly listeners, "The Rush Limbaugh Show" airs on nearly 600 radio stations.
