Heroic Half-Human, Half-Ghost Teen Fends off His Most Challenging Enemy Yet In Danny Phantom's One-Hour Prime Time Movie with Special Guest Stars Eric Roberts and David Carradine
BURBANK, Calif., Sept. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Summer's over and it's back to school for Danny Fenton (voiced by David Kaufman), but delving into his studies while simultaneously fighting ghosts turns out to be too much for him. After making the decision to cheat on a test that determines his future, he suffers the consequences and must face his ultimate enemy or risk turning to the dark side forever in Danny Phantom: The Ultimate Enemy. This one-hour movie from creator Butch Hartman (The Fairly OddParents) premieres on Nickelodeon Friday, September 16 from 8-9 p.m. (ET/PT). Since its debut in April 2004, Danny Phantom, has grown to be the third ranked property on all of kids' television among two to eleven year-olds. (Source: NMR 3/28/05-6/26/05)
Leading up to the movie premiere on Friday, Nickelodeon will air the Danny Phantom Ultimate Enemy Countdown, Monday - Thursday (September 12-15) from 6-7 p.m. (ET/PT) -- consisting of episodes including Danny's most fearsome foes.
"Butch Hartman has delivered another great adventure by giving Danny his biggest personal challenge yet -- facing his ultimate enemy," said Marjorie Cohn, Executive Vice President, Development and Original Programming, Nickelodeon. "This action-packed special provides the adventures and laughs that keep our audience coming back for more."
In The Ultimate Enemy, Danny and his classmates must take their Career Aptitude Test (CAT) and Danny is freaking out. He's been so busy hunting ghosts that he hasn't had any time to study or think about his future, so he cheats on the test. But, far in the distant reaches of the Ghost Zone, a group of beings called the Observants has been keeping an eye on Danny's future for him, and they are not happy with what they see. Danny's decision to cheat causes a tragic chain reaction that spells doom for all the citizens of Amity Park.
As a result, the Observants are sending a ghost named Clockwork (David Carradine), who has the power to control time, to Amity Park in order to do whatever it takes to stop Danny from heading down the path that will cause him to renounce his humanity and confront his ultimate enemy (Eric Roberts). Danny, along with the help of Sam (Grey Delisle), Tucker (Rickey Collins), Jazz (Colleen O'Shaughnessey) and a new power, try to prevent the inevitable and change the course of his future.
This special episode of Danny Phantom has a Nick.com game/event tie-in, The Danny Phantom Ultimate Enemy Face-Off, in which kids create and name their own ghost. Kids will be able to watch on-air for spots instructing them to collect codes that will unlock special powers online that will help their ghost compete against other ghosts. After building their ghost, kids can tune in to see if their ghost is one of the few that will be randomly selected and shown on-air the week leading up to the movie's premiere.
Danny Phantom follows the funny, fantastic action-packed adventures of Danny Fenton, who straddles two worlds as a shy freshman at Casper High and a heroic phantom-fighter with ghostly superpowers. With his best friends, techno-geek Tucker and free-thinking Goth girl Sam, he thwarts the misdeeds of menacing ghosts -- and stumbles through daily social hurdles.
The son of zealous ghost hunters Jack (Rob Paulsen) and Maddie (Kath Soucie) -- who are clueless their teen is half-ghost -- Danny got his powers when his folks' explosive experiment in their high-tech lab merged his DNA with ghostly goo, while releasing dangerous ghost villains into the world. Now he is determined to stop evil forces on the loose in his home town of Amity Park. In doing so he uses his newfound paranormal gifts to fly, become invisible and fire ectoplasmic blasts of energy.
Of course high school is tough enough without having parents who wear orange jumpsuits and Hazmat outfits and a beautiful, brilliant 16-year-old sister named Jazz (Colleen O'Shaughnessey) who can be overbearing despite good intentions. Danny was bit of an outcast and practically "invisible" at school before acquiring superpowers that enabled him literally to vanish. A good kid and loyal friend with a solid center, he always fought with his wit not his fists. Now as half-boy, half-ghost superhero, he must balance fighting for good grades, good times and the greater good all at the same time.
Creator/executive producer Hartman wrote and directed episodes of Dexter's Laboratory, Cow & Chicken and Johnny Bravo before segueing to Nickelodeon's Oh Yeah! Cartoons! and creating the network's mega-hit series The Fairly OddParents, one of the top two shows on all of kids' television. Danny Phantom is a Nicktoon, and is produced at the Nickelodeon Animation Studio in Burbank, California.
