STORY SUMMARY: In 2004, singer-songwriter Melissa Etheridge was diagnosed with breast cancer. Since her diagnosis, she has become an avid spokesperson in the fight to eradicate the disease, and now she is taking that fight one step further.
With the support of Ford Motor Company, Etheridge will release a new song to raise funds for breast cancer awareness foundations. "I Run For Life" chronicles her struggle with the disease and her courageous fight towards recovery. The song's title is a reference to the Komen Race for the Cure, a worldwide race series attended by more than 1 million breast cancer survivors and supporters to help raise funds for breast cancer awareness and research.
The single will be available for .99ยข via http://www.fordcares.com/, and all of the proceeds during the month of October will go directly to the Susan G. Komen Foundation and Dr. Susan Love Research Foundation. Etheridge will also appear in a public service announcement on the website, urging women of all ages to get yearly check-ups and mammograms.
Ford has been committed to breast cancer awareness and research for many years, and over the last decade the company has contributed nearly $85 Million dollars to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. For more information, please visit http://www.fordcares.com/ or http://www.komen.org/
