Hector V. Barreto, Administrator for the U.S. Small Business Administration Is This Week's Guest on "Taking Care Of Business With Brian Roberts"

VIENNA, Va., Sept. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Sponsored by The Professional Services Council (http://www.pscouncil.org/) and Croix Connect (http://www.croixconnect.com/), the entire month of September on "Taking Care of Business with Brian Roberts," has been designated "Government Contracting Month." Guests in September will focus on issues surrounding government contracting. Sunday's guests will be Hector Barreto, Administrator for the U.S. Small Business Administration and Guy Timberlake, co-founder of The American Small Business Coalition.

Mr. Barreto, who assumed his position in July, 2001, is the 21st Administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration. With a portfolio of loans totaling over $45 billion, the SBA is the nation's largest single financial backer of small business.

Mr. Barreto will talk about the biggest concerns facing small business owners today and the various programs provided by the SBA to help these businesses. He will also discuss how the government is doing in meeting the federal contracting goals for small businesses in general.

And in the wake of the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina, Mr. Barreto will discuss what the SBA is doing to help the small businesses in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama, the majority of which have been destroyed or severely crippled by the storm.

Guy Timberlake is the co-founder of The American Small Business Coalition, a private membership organization that supports member companies in doing business not only with the federal government but also with other companies that do business with the government. Currently ASBC supports more than 100 small businesses in 14 states. Through partnerships with other organizations, they network with over 2,000 companies nationwide ranging in size from those doing less than $1M in annual revenues to those that, based on the standards established by the SBA, will soon no longer be considered small businesses.
