Filmmaker Irvin Kershner to Speak at Woodbury, Receive Ray Bradbury Creativity Award

BURBANK, Calif., Sept. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Irvin Kershner will discuss his distinguished career in Hollywood as a director, writer, producer and actor during a September 25 event at Woodbury University.

Kershner also will receive the university's Ray Bradbury Creativity Award, presented annually to an individual or organization judged by the acclaimed author of "Fahrenheit 451" and his committee that has contributed significantly to the universe of creative excellence.

A cocktail and buffet reception will begin at 6 p.m., with the program beginning at 7 p.m. at Woodbury University, 7500 Glenoaks Boulevard, Burbank. Cost is $50 per person for the entire evening or $25 per person for the program only. Proceeds benefit Woodbury University's Library Associates, a volunteer organization dedicated to improving library services.

Kershner is well known to movie audiences for his films "The Eyes of Laura Mars," "The Empire Strikes Back," the Sean Connery-as-James Bond-movie "Never Say Never Again" and "Robocop 2." His extensive television work includes the documentary series "Confidential File," as well as the Emmy-nominated "Raid on Entebbe." More recently, he has been working as a creative producer on the Broadway production "Six Days," a musical based on the historic Arab Israeli conflict. His still photography was featured in the solo exhibition "A Positive View of Negative Space" and he lectures at universities throughout the United States and Europe.
