Delray Beach Film Festival Hires TransMedia to 'Go Fetch' Media; Event Created by a Veterinarian to Benefit Humane Society
DELRAY BEACH, Fla., Sept. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- The Delray Beach Film Festival has retained TransMedia Group to publicize its world premiere March 8-12, 2006. It plans to show over 100 shorts, features, documentaries and Xtreme sports films and donate a portion of profits to the Humane Society.
The festival's director, Michael Posner, said he created the event to support both emerging film talent and the other love of his life - veterinary medicine. A veterinarian, Posner plans to share the festival's profits with the Palm Beach Humane Society and Atlantic High School.
"The Delray Beach Film Festival was created to offer filmmakers a fun, warm, beautiful place to meet, mingle and party," said Posner. "Our relaxed and welcoming atmosphere will be a breath of fresh air to any filmmaker."
Posner is a veteran of the festival world, having worked at dozens of film events across the country, including the Sundance Film Festival and the Newport Beach Film Festival.
"TransMedia was a relatively easy choice, considering their past success in promoting films for the New York City Film Commission and Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival," Posner said.
The Delray Beach Film Festival plans to distinguish itself from the rest by offering its guests one-of-a-kind perks, including exploration trips through the Florida Everglades and surf lessons with professional surfers. The festival plans to take full advantage of its location and offer those who attend a vacation experience as well.
Already planned are a celebrity surf contest and golf tournament at the Hamlet Country Club. Day and night fun will continue throughout the festival as Old School Square is turned into a venue for local filmmakers to display their short films and documentaries. In support of local talent, the festival will keep this event open and free to the public.
The festival has already been recognized by Red Bull, who has signed on to sponsor the event, as well as kick off the Xtreme Sports Program with one of its own Xtreme films.
The Delray Beach Film Festival is looking for sponsors who want to create brand awareness while supporting emerging filmmakers. It is also accepting film submissions in all categories through Dec. 16, 2005.
