800 MHz Transition Administrator Announces Wave 2 Reconfiguration Start Date and Reschedules Louisiana for Wave 3

800 MHz Transition Administrator Announces Wave 2 Reconfiguration Start Date and Reschedules Louisiana for Wave 3

Wave 2 of Regional Prioritization Plan to begin on October 3, 2005 for non-NPSPAC licensees

WASHINGTON, Sept. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- 800 MHz Transition Administrator, LLC ("TA") today announced that Wave 2, Stage 1 reconfiguration will start on October 3, 2005 as previously scheduled in the Regional Prioritization Plan ("RPP"). "Wave 2" licensees are in the National Public Safety Planning Advisory Committee ("NPSPAC") regions covering areas in the Central United States, including Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, parts of Texas, Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Arkansas, and extending to Tennessee, Kentucky and West Virginia. Wave 2 also includes Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands. "Stage 1" refers to the relocation of licensees operating on Channels 1-120 (806-809/851-854 MHz) which must be cleared prior to the relocation of public safety licensees operating on the NPSPAC frequencies (821-824/866-869 MHz).

The Federal Communications Commission ("FCC") issued a related Public Notice on September 2, 2005 (posted on the TA's website at http://www.800ta.org/). As required by the FCC, the TA developed the RPP that lists the order in which the 55 800 MHz NPSPAC regions will start the process of reconfiguration. The RPP defines four "Waves" or groupings of NPSPAC regions to be reconfigured.

Please note that in response to the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina, the TA has moved Louisiana (NPSPAC Region 18) from Wave 2 to Wave 3. Mississippi and Alabama are already assigned to Wave 3.

To learn more about the RPP, the reconfiguration Waves, or to identify the assigned "Wave" for a given licensee or call sign, please visit the TA website at http://www.800ta.org/.

800 MHz licensees should be aware of the following:

* On August 12, 2005, the TA sent all Wave 2 licensees a reconfiguration information package. This package was mailed to the address on file with the FCC. If you are a Wave 2 licensee and have not received this mailing, please contact the TA at comments@800TA.org or (888) 800-8220. Licensees in Louisiana may disregard the dates in this package. The TA will send information to all Wave 3 licensees (including Louisiana) prior to the start date of January 3, 2006.

* A separate package will be mailed to Wave 2, Stage 1 licensees, containing the TA's frequency proposals for licensees' affected call signs. Completed Frequency Proposal Reports (FPR) will be mailed to the address on file with the FCC or the designated contacts (if Point of Contact forms have been sent) prior to the voluntary negotiation start dates.

* Licensees receiving FPRs will be contacted by Nextel to begin reconfiguration negotiations. If you are a Wave 2, Stage 1 licensee and do not hear from Nextel, you should contact Nextel at 800MHz@Nextel.com.

* Licensees in Waves 3 and 4 will receive information packages before the start dates of their reconfigurations. To facilitate this process, please ensure that your license information on file with the FCC is current.

* All licensees can access the most recent reconfiguration news by visiting the TA's website at http://www.800ta.org/.
