Emmy Award-Winning Sitcom 'The Bernie Mac Show' Premieres in Off-Net Syndication September 12
Comedian Bernie Mac Presents Unique Parenting Ideas Inspired by Personal Experiences
LOS ANGELES, Aug. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- The award-winning and critically-acclaimed sitcom, "The Bernie Mac Show," inspired by the real life of comedian Bernie Mac, makes its eagerly anticipated debut in off-network syndication September 12, 2005 (check your local listings). The program will air as a Monday through Friday strip, giving viewers the opportunity to watch this hilarious program five days a week.
In this daring half-hour comedy, Bernie presents atypical views on parenting. The Macs never wanted to raise a family, but after taking in his sister's children, Bernie's old school ideas of discipline and child-rearing collide with society's politically correct notions of how kids should be raised and educated. He believes kids are "too sassy, too grown and talk back too much," and subscribes to tough love in order to obtain a little respect for the elders.
On the air for four years and scheduled to return for its fifth season on FOX on September 23, the "The Bernie Mac Show" also stars Kellita Smith, Camille Winbush, Jeremy Suarez and Dee Dee Davis, and has been hailed by both audiences and critics. The series has won the prestigious Peabody and Humanitas Awards, an Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series, two NAACP Image Awards for Outstanding Comedy Series, honored by the Television Critics Association for Outstanding Achievement in a Comedy and for Individual Achievement in a Comedy (Bernie Mac). In addition, Mac himself won two NAACP Image Awards for Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series and has been nominated for an Emmy Award and a Golden Globe two years in a row, in addition, he has won a Screen Actors Guild Award for his work on the series. Last year, Winbush won her own NAACP Image Award, for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.
"The Bernie Mac Show" is executive produced by Peter Aronson and Warren Hutcherson and is produced by Regency Television in association with 20th Century Fox Television. Distributed by Twentieth Television, the program has been cleared in 96% of the country for its September 12 launch into syndication.
