Lions Gate Films to Present Critically Acclaimed Film CRASH at NAACP National Convention in Milwaukee on July 10

Panel Discussion With CRASH Director and Co-Writer Paul Haggis, Actors Michael Pena and Chris 'Ludacris' Bridges to Follow Screening

SANTA MONICA, Calif., July 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Lions Gate Films, the motion picture acquisition, production and distribution arm of Lions Gate Entertainment (NYSE:LGF) Toronto, will host a screening of the critically acclaimed movie CRASH at the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People's (NAACP) 96th Convention this week in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The screening, on July 10th at the Cooley Auditorium, will feature a provocative panel discussion with director and co-writer Paul Haggis, and actors Michael Pena and Chris "Ludacris" Bridges.

Challenging and thought-provoking, CRASH takes a provocative, unflinching look at the complexities of racial tolerance in contemporary America. Diving headlong into the diverse melting pot of post-9/11 Los Angeles, this compelling urban drama tracks the volatile intersections of a multi-ethnic cast of characters' struggles to overcome their fears as they careen in and out of one another's lives. The film marks Haggis' directing debut.

"There isn't a more relevant setting for a movie like CRASH than the NAACP Convention," said director and co-writer Paul Haggis. "I am honored that the NAACP is calling attention to CRASH, and humbled that this historic organization would find in this film a relevant starting point to discuss race relations in this country. CRASH has ignited a public debate that our nation needs to have, and we are excited to continue that conversation in Milwaukee."

"We are proud to have the filmmakers and stars present for the screening of CRASH at our convention. This is an important film in that it explores attitudes toward race and tolerance with intelligence and humanity," said Vic Bulluck, Executive Director, NAACP Hollywood Bureau. "This is a central issue for the NAACP, and the film helps to foster that conversation among our membership and all concerned Americans."

A Brentwood housewife and her DA husband. A Persian store owner. Two police detectives who are also lovers. An African-American television director and his wife. A Mexican locksmith. Two car-jackers. A rookie cop. A middle-aged Korean couple ... They all live in Los Angeles. And during the next 36 hours, they will all collide ... Funny, powerful, and always unpredictable, CRASH boldly reminds us of the importance of tolerance as it ventures beyond color lines ... and uncovers the truth of our shared humanity.
