Elixir Saloon Announces Music-Oriented Charity Bartending Events to Celebrate $10,000 Milestone in Program

Local San Francisco Saloon Founded in 1873 Works with Local, National, and International Groups to Raise Monies and Awareness

SAN FRANCISCO, July 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Elixir, a historic neighborhood saloon located in the Mission Dolores section of San Francisco, today announced its Charity Guest Bartending program has raised over $10,000 in charitable contributions throughout the one and one half years of the program's existence. The program consists of weekly events on Wednesday evenings from 9pm to 2am, hosted by Guest Bartenders with their tips going to the charity of their choice. To celebrate this milestone, the next several events will focus on music-oriented themes and the charities they represent.

"We are very excited to be involved with these organizations that use music and the arts to raise awareness on so many important issues," said H. Joseph Ehrmann, Proprietor of Elixir. "Everything from ending global poverty and supporting kids' issues to promoting local artists and using music as a messenger will be addressed and supported by these events."

The upcoming schedule includes supporters of the One Campaign on July 13th, radio celebrities from Alice@97.3 and Another Planet Entertainment supporting Karma 4 Kids/Camp Okizu on July 20th; organizers from MusicForAmerica.org on August 3rd, and local rock band Recliner donate their tips to Elixir's neighbor: The Boys and Girls Club on August 17th. Additional August events will be announced soon, including possible Celebrity Bartenders.

The program raised over $5500 in 2004, and $6000 in the first half of 2005 alone. Beneficiaries of the charitable contributions include national groups such as the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society; local area charities such as the SF AIDS Foundation and the San Francisco SPCA; and neighborhood charities like Creativity Explored and the Boys and Girls Club of San Francisco.
