ABC Radio Networks to Broadcast Winning Advice With Jennifer Openshaw
New Radio Short-Form Program, Membership Service and Website Brings First-Rate Personal Financial Advice To Middle Income America
NEW YORK, July 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Leading entrepreneur and personal finance advisor Jennifer Openshaw, CEO of Jennifer Openshaw's Family Financial Network and founder of Women's Financial Network, will bring her message of financial security to middle income Americans through an exclusive broadcast agreement with ABC Radio Networks and a new membership-based service designed for the 50 million Americans who need advice on money matters but up until now could not afford it.
After focusing on the needs of women through Women's Financial Network, Openshaw's mission now is to empower all Americans -- not just the wealthy -- by giving them the quality information, tools, and services they need to reach their financial dreams. She will accomplish this through "Winning Advice with Jennifer Openshaw," a national money feature airing on ABC Radio, a special website (http://www.winningadvice.com/) where Americans can get access to money management tools and information, and a new affordable "money coaching" service for middle income Americans.
Hosted by Openshaw, the Winning Advice radio program will bring personal finance information, tips and advice to middle income Americans on a variety of topics including home improvements, building and maintaining good credit, and how to best prepare for retirement. The short-form feature program, sponsored exclusively by LendingTree, LLC, will begin airing today on many of the 4600 ABC Radio Networks affiliate stations across the country. The program will be broadcast Monday through Friday at various times throughout the day.
"Considering that 70 percent of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck and nine out of 10 worry if they have enough to retire on, the need for clear, concise and independent personal finance information has never been more urgent," said Openshaw. "The Winning Advice program is specifically designed to help millions of hardworking Americans do more with what they have -- through concrete, easy-to-understand advice they can implement today. With the support of ABC Radio Networks and LendingTree.com, Winning Advice will give people the confidence and simple tools they need to begin building a secure financial future."
In conjunction with the Winning Advice radio program, Openshaw will in the next month introduce a new membership-based service to provide money coaching on everything from finding the best credit card and setting spending goals to reviewing insurance coverage and retirement planning.
"Jennifer Openshaw is a financial champion of average Americans who is uniquely qualified to bring top-notch advice to our listeners who want to win in today's challenging economy," said John McConnell, senior vice president of programming for ABC Radio Networks. "She makes a real difference in people's lives, so we're particularly thrilled to have Jennifer join our roster of talented on-air personalities who bring expert advice and perspective to the airwaves every day."
Janet and Jim Fender of Chicago, who were coached by Openshaw as part of an appearance on Oprah, are among those whose lives have been changed. "We've completely changed the way we spend and think about our money as a result of Jennifer's help," says Janet, who also started an investment club. "Now my husband and I have a better relationship when it comes to money issues."
A nationally recognized financial expert and TV commentator who taps into her own life struggles, Openshaw is the only known female financial personality who has also been a leading entrepreneur. In 1999, Openshaw founded Women's Financial Network (WFN), an innovative financial services company created for women and a trendsetter in the industry. Her work as CEO and Chairman won her recognition as a "Mover & Shaker" in Silicon Valley by the San Jose Mercury News and one of the Internet's 25 Rising Stars by Internet World magazine. WFN was sold to and is now a division of Siebert Financial (NYSE:SIEB). Jennifer is also the author of "What's Your Net Worth" and creator of the Quick & Easy Budget Kit. A Rotary Scholar, Jennifer holds a B.A. and M.B.A. from UCLA. She was also appointed by the Governor of California to the prestigious Commission on California State Government Organization & Economy ("The Little Hoover Commission").
In addition to hosting Winning Advice, Openshaw is the Consumer Columnist for MarketWatch.com and a frequent guest commentator for CNN. She has served as the "Money Expert" for CBS-TV in Los Angeles, contributing money editor for Child magazine, and commentator for Lifetime TV's "Lifetime Live" show. Her work has brought her national coverage through such shows as Oprah, Montel Williams, "The Other Half," and CNBC's "Power Lunch" and has led to features in Fortune Small Business, Business Week, San Francisco Chronicle, the Washington Post, and the San Jose Mercury News.
"Many Americans are losing financially when they need help winning with everyday money matters ranging from paying for college to managing through a stagnant job market," said Douglas R. Lebda, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of LendingTree, LLC. "Through this unique radio program, every American can now get smart, objective financial help, no matter the size of their bank account. Jennifer brings not only an outstanding reputation and proven track record, but also a passion and entrepreneurial spirit to a meaningful and big American cause. We are proud to be the premier sponsor of Winning Advice."
