An Actor Training Institution Offers $10,000.00 to Raise the Bar of Acting Education in Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES, July 20 /PRNewswire/ -- "There are three types of actors: the trained, the untrained, and the wrongly trained." Because there are many institutions that provide great training and many more that prey on actors hopes, dreams, and finances - on October 1, 2005, Actors Challenge Training is hosting the FIRST ANNUAL FILM AND TELEVISION SCHOLASTIC CHALLENGE, an event with 150 competing actors from the top 30 schools, private coaches, and theatre groups. Each institution will be able to showcase their 5 best students for a chance to win $10,000.00 and The Actors Challenge Cup.
For too long untrained or wrongly trained actors have driven up production costs. As a result there is a rock-bottom respect level for what has long been a desirable career in the entertainment industry, causing reality casting, foreign markets gaining footholds, and the Screen Actors Guild losing potential millions in DVD residuals. The ultimate goal of the Actors Challenge is to bring necessary camera skills to the art of acting in front of a motion picture camera.
In order to create a fair contest, all of The Actors Challenge scenes will be selected from scenes submitted by the competitors. All teams will receive the scripts in advance and have the same amount of preparation time on the material. To minimize "home field advantage," we offer our stages by pre- appointment to competing teams, for private rehearsals, at no charge.
Each student will perform one-person scenes on and off camera, just as they would in an actual casting session. Their performance will be judged by a group of well-established, non-partial industry professionals including casting directors, producers, directors, writers, agents and celebrity actors.
While each team will receive industry recognition for taking The Actors Challenge and be acknowledged by their ranking, only one team can hold THE CHALLENGE CUP.
Please note that no individual actor submissions will be accepted. All submissions must be made by August 22, 2005 in order to participate in The Challenge, and must be supported by a school, private coach, or theatre group. To be fair to all participants, 30 teams will be accepted - only early registration will guarantee a teams entrance.
