UGC Selects OpenTV as Key Partner for Accelerated Digital Rollout

OpenTV Software Solutions to Power Pan-European Roll-Out by Europe's Leading Broadband Operator

SAN FRANCISCO, June 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- OpenTV Corp. (NASDAQ:OPTV), one of the world's leading providers of technologies and services enabling the delivery of digital and interactive television, today announced that UnitedGlobalCom, Inc. (UGC) (NASDAQ:UCOMA) has formally selected OpenTV as one of its key technology partners to support its plans for an accelerated rollout of digital television to UPC Broadband's analog cable subscribers in the Netherlands.

As recently announced, UGC's UPC Broadband division expects to begin in the fourth quarter of 2005 a large-scale digital rollout project in the Netherlands. As a result of this initiative, UPC Broadband expects to eventually deploy over two million digital set-top boxes with related middleware and security and conditional access systems, in order to accelerate the growth of digital television in the Dutch market.
