On Command Introduces HD+ End-to-End Solution at HITEC 2005
Leading In-Room Entertainment Company to Demonstrate Industry's First End-to-End HD Solution Featuring Motion Control Technology
DENVER, June 21 /PRNewswire/ -- On Command Video Corporation, a leading provider of in-room interactive entertainment for the hotel industry and its guests, announced today that it will be demonstrating is full end-to-end HD solution that incorporates the industry's first HD welcome channel, HD menu system, HD programming content, security technology and in-room display at HITEC 2005 in Los Angeles.
"End-to-end means a complete solution without forgoing guest features like Motion Control," said Tad Walden, senior vice president of marketing and programming for On Command. "Hotel guests should be able to maintain the ability to pause, rewind, fast forward and save their HD content, just as they do with standard digital content."
On Command's HD+ solution includes a full HD Welcome Channel that can be customized with 24 hours of high definition content that is specific to the hotel property. The HD+ solution also incorporates On Command's CANVAS 2 menu system software, which enables the entire menu system to be customized with type fonts, video elements, photographic images and other unique elements to create an exclusive design for the hotel property.
Other elements of the HD+ solution include On Command's agreement with NDS, whereby On Command will be using NDS's VideoGuard technology for content security (see separate announcement June 21, 2005/ On Command partners with NDS to deliver security for HD technology to the hotel room..) The NDS VideoGuard system is a unique and advanced version of the NDS VideoGuard system already in use by some of the most successful digital PPV and VOD operators from around the world, including DirecTV (U.S.), Cablevision (U.S.), BSkyB (UK) and Foxtel (Austrailia).
