Guitarist, Brian 'HEAD' Welch, Flies to India to Launch First 'HEAD' HOME, an Orphanage for India's Refugees
NEW YORK, June 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Ex-Korn Guitarist, Brian "HEAD" Welch, known for his recent conversion to Christianity, has been actively working on his record. Amidst his recordings, Welch is spending time with another one of his loves -- a passion for helping kids get off the streets. This passion has turned into the idea of planting Brian's first HEAD HOME. "Throughout all of my life, I have always had a heart for people that are hurting, especially those that have no one to help them. My eyes have been opened to children on the street and I feel like, for me, that is who I want and need to help!" says Welch.
HEAD has linked up with new manager, Steve Delaportas of FORTITUDE FILMS to develop his musical career, launch his upcoming documentary on his life and partner with him in his HEAD HOME projects. Delaportas has provided funding and assistance to successfully help orphans countrywide in India with the company, "GOOD NEWS INDIA." This company helps house, train and educate some 1,600 school aged children throughout India. With Delaportas' track record of success already in India, HEAD HOME will focus on helping children who suffer from all issues; such as helping introducing leper children back into the community; helping children whose parents have sold them into brothels; and other impoverished situations. Delaportas echoes Welch's sentiments, "I am so excited to be helping HEAD in his mission to assist those in need worldwide! HEAD has brought so much to the table with new ideas and solutions to help in the fight to help with the next generation. These children are wanting so little and HEAD is wanting to give so much! I stand in amazement."
Welch and Delaportas, as well as Welch's documentary crew, will be traveling to Bombay, Kolkata, Balasore, Kurseong, and Darjeeling, but their focus will be on the dedication of the HEAD HOME located in Baligeria. This unique humanitarian effort will take Welch into one of the most desolate areas of India where the need is greatest. The HEAD HOME will be adjacent to various tribes that still practice cannibalism. This is one of 4 homes that Welch will be planting in the future.
