Boys Choir of Harlem to Headline Fundraiser for UN Organization

World Culture Open to Donate Nearly $50,000 to UN FAO at the 3rd New York International Choral Festival at Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall

NEW YORK, June 24 /PRNewswire/ -- On Tuesday, June 28th at 8 p.m. at Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall, the Boys Choir of Harlem headlines a benefit concert for the United Nations' Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). Sponsored by international nonprofit World Culture Open, the Festival is raising nearly $50,000 for UN FAO's efforts to build a world without hunger. The Boys Choir will be preceded on stage by the following choral powerhouses: Young People's Chorus of New York City, Jewish People's Philharmonic Chorus, Pyongtaek University Chorus, and the Hai-tien Chorus -- all recognized for their superior presence within the international choir circuit.

The 3rd New York International Choral Festival will feature a musically rich and culturally diverse repertoire, from traditional Korean to contemporary Gershwin to classical Handel to soulful Gospel. Over 100 UN Ambassadors & Staff, US Congresspersons, and other dignitaries will attend World Culture Open's fundraiser at Alice Tully Hall on June 28th. All monies raised for FAO will go directly to FAO's TeleFood program, which pays for small, sustainable projects that help small-scale farmers produce more food for their families and communities. This is World Culture Open's second appearance at Lincoln Center, having hosted the World Culture Open Awards Ceremony at Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher Hall in 2004 to celebrate the inaugural awarding of three $100,000 Peace Prizes for Arts and Culture. The 2004 Awards Ceremony featured renowned artists Youssou N'Dour from Senegal, Yair Dalal from Israel, Misia from Portugal and Wyclef Jean from Haiti/U.S.
