Bloomberg TV to Air Special Report on General Motors Tonight
NEW YORK, June 28 /PRNewswire/ -- As General Motors ("GM") struggles to recover from its recently reported $1.1 billion loss, a Bloomberg Television(R) Special Report -- airing tonight at 10:00 p.m. ET and again on July 4th -- investigates the challenges and opportunities facing GM. With analysts, customers and employees questioning GM's ability to recover, Bloomberg Television reports on GM's performance, competitive strategy and GM's current labor contract negotiations.
Since 2001, when Rick Wagoner took over as the chief executive, GM profits have dropped 75 percent, while healthcare and pension costs have risen 35 percent. Today, for every current employee at GM, there are two and a half retired employees receiving benefits. Tonight's Special Report on Bloomberg Television explores three of the most pressing issues facing GM -- the rising cost of healthcare, pension benefits for its retired workers and competition from Asian auto manufacturers.
The Bloomberg Special Report can be seen tonight on Bloomberg Television at 10:00 p.m. ET and on the Bloomberg Professional(R) service via AV < GO >. The Special Report will be aired again on Bloomberg Television on July 4, 2005.
