SANTA MONICA, Calif., June 7 /PRNewswire/ -- GSN, the network for games, will premiere an exciting new billiards series BALLBREAKERS (formerly titled No Limit 9 Ball) on Monday, July 18 (10:00-11:00 PM ET/PT) featuring amateur pool sharks participating in winner-takes-all episodes for $20,000. Hosted by Sal Masekela ("X Games"), the series will also include two celebrity episodes featuring Tia Carrere ("Wayne's World"), Lou Diamond Phillips ("La Bamba"), Camryn Manheim ("The Practice") and Eric Roberts ("Less Than Perfect") in one and Noah Wyle and Goran Visnjic ("ER"), Dorian Harewood ("Roots") and Julie McCullough ("Growing Pains") in another, all competing to earn money for their favorite charity.
Ewa Mataya Laurance, known as the "Striking Viking" in the billiard industry, will provide commentary on game play and her expert advice on shots if asked by players. Laurance has won all of the major events on the WPBA Tour, including the World Championships, the US Open, the WPBA National Championship as well as the European Championships. She is a member of the Billiard Congress of America Hall of Fame and serves as an ESPN Commentator and is also a Brunswick Billiards spokesperson. Adrianne Curry, winner of the first season of "America's Next Top Model," will serve as the series' "Rack Girl."
With four players per episode, each participant will begin with a $5,000 "bankroll" to challenge their competition throughout the episode. A player is eliminated when they have lost their entire bankroll. The player who defeats the competition and leaves all of the other players broke will walk away with $20,000.
Once a minimum challenge of $1,000 is made, two players will then play one game of 9-ball for the minimum amount or more if they agree, while they and the non-competing players engage in side betting on the current match. The player who leaves his opponents penniless will have to combine billiard skill with the guts to bet big on themselves and their ability to analyze the skills of their opponents -- establishing themselves as the ultimate "hustler."
BALLBREAKERS is produced by SokoLobl Entertainment and executive produced by Sam Sokolow, Rob Lobl, Michael Binkow and John Hermanson. The series was created by Sokolow and Lobl. BALLBREAKERS is co-executive produced by Mars Callahan, who co-wrote, directed and starred in the film "Pool Hall Junkies."
