National Radio Personality Glenn Beck Sends Victim of Mifflin High School Sexual Assault Case to Private School
Beck Travels to Columbus Today to Talk to Sold-Out Crowd About Improving Schools
LOS ANGELES, April 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Premiere Radio Networks' nationally syndicated radio talk show host, Glenn Beck, created a fundraiser in response to the events unfolding in Columbus, Ohio. A 16 year-old developmentally disabled Mifflin High School student was sexually assaulted by three boys on campus during school hours. Approximately $8,000 was raised in ticket sales and sold out in less than 24 hours. Beck will announce to the 903-seat Capitol Theatre audience that the money they raised will go to the victim's family for the purpose of sending their daughter to private school.
"While I was prepping for my radio show, I came across this story in the Columbus Dispatch," said Beck. "The details reported in the paper about the incident were so grotesque, that as a father of a 16 year-old daughter with cerebral palsy, they made me weep."
What infuriated Beck even more about this story was the fact that the school administrators involved attempted to cover up the event from the media. That was his cue to make sure that as many people possible know what is happening at this particular school. For the last several days, Beck has been encouraging his listeners to be vigilantly aware of what is happening at schools nationwide. Based in Philadelphia and syndicated on 170 stations, the response from his listeners has created a ground swell of interest around this ongoing criminal investigation.
Tonight, Beck will share his opinions on the case and dispel rumors that have been circulated by the Governor of Ohio about Beck being politically motivated by the Governor's Republican opponent. He will share his ideas about what parents can do to make their children's school environment a safe and nurturing one.
Glenn Beck, 41, is casting a tall shadow as the next phenomenon of talk radio. The former Top 40 DJ entered the talk format in 2001 and already his show is broadcast on 170 stations nationwide. Millions of listeners are drawn to this modern-day story teller who is armed with a quick wit, an informed opinion, and a unique ability to inspire others to experience their full potential with an open heart. His on-air presence is both commanding and inviting -- a trait he has been refining for the last 26 years.
