Hollywood Producer Thom Mount Joins Cracked Entertainment's Board of Directors
NEW YORK, April 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Cracked Entertainment, Inc. today announced that Thom Mount, famed Hollywood producer and the former President of Universal Pictures, has joined the company's Board of Directors.
"Thom is a tremendously talented and accomplished producer with an innate creative talent and the business acumen to match. He brings an incredible wealth of experience, wisdom and vision to Cracked," said Monty Sarhan, Publisher and CEO of Cracked Entertainment. "We are privileged to have him join us as we look to rebuild CRACKED as a leading entertainment brand."
"CRACKED is one of the oldest brands in comedy and publishing and has unique and limitless potential," said Thom Mount. "I am extremely impressed with the ambitious vision that Monty has put forward. I'm excited to be supporting his team and look forward to working with them."
The company is currently working on a complete redesign of CRACKED Magazine with a planned relaunch scheduled for late 2005 or early 2006. Future plans include expansion of the brand into other media, including television, film and the Internet.
"What we're doing is not just about a magazine, but turning CRACKED into a major brand," Sarhan commented. "Thom is a long-time trusted ally. He will be an amazing resource as we transform CRACKED and expand into film and television."
Thom Mount began his career in Hollywood at Universal Pictures and quickly rose through the studio's ranks. After just three short years, at the age of only 26, Mount was named President of Universal Pictures. Dubbed a "Baby Mogul" by Time Magazine, Mount was responsible for developing and overseeing over 180 feature films during his tenure at Universal, including Smokey and the Bandit, National Lampoon's Animal House, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, The Breakfast Club, Monty Python's Meaning of Life, Missing, Psycho II and Scarface.
After eight years at Universal's top post, Mount became a successful independent producer. Some of the films that Mount is best known for include Can't Buy Me Love, Tequila Sunrise, Natural Born Killers and the baseball classic Bull Durham. His film Death and the Maiden was first produced by Mount as a successful Broadway play. More recently, Mount was elected and served as two-term President of the Producers Guild of America, an organization which he helped to revitalize. He currently has two films in pre-production, including an original by multiple Academy Award winner Horton Foote and A West Texas Children's Story, which will start shooting in June in Austin, Texas.
