Web Community Produces Podcasts for Artist Dash Rip Rock

ATLANTA, April 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- FreeWebTown, online web hosting community headquartered in Atlanta, announced the production and distribution of the first podcast for Dash Rip Rock, a rock-n-roll band currently on the Alternative Tentacles recording label.

The podcast features Dash Rip Rock's Bill Davis in an informal setting delivering original and humorous vignettes interspersed with rare moments of unreleased songs and samples of their recorded music. The bi-weekly podcasts will be produced and distributed by Mike A. Hall of FreeWebTown.

A podcast is an audio content file recorded using RSS (Really Simple Syndication) methods so that listeners can easily download it over the Internet to digital music devices and computers. Mr. Hall said, "Fans get the benefits of radio without having to 'tune in' at specific intervals. This type of 'Internet broadcasting' gives us enormous freedom from traditional broadcasting or regulatory constraints. We are pleased to add podcasting our free services."

"Podcasting is a perfect venue for the band", said Bill Davis of Dash Rip Rock. "We're kind of obnoxious, we're kind of rockabilly, we're kind of punk rock. We're not easy listening. Fans who like our music will enjoy the unreleased material and commentary. New listeners have access to a free sample."

About Dash Rip Rock

Dash Rip Rock began in New Orleans 20 years ago. The band was recently featured on page one of the Wall Street Journal for their humorous rendition of Lynyrd Skynyrd's classic "Freebird." Despite their free-form humorous stage show, they are loosely aligned with the punk ethos of Dead Kennedys' frontman Jello Biafra, who signed them to his record label in January 2005. Their new record "Recyclone" is gaining plays on college/alternative radio stations, and on XM Satellite Radio. Their summer tour includes appearances in Atlanta, Los Angeles, New York and Chicago. www.dashriprock.net .
