Sunderland 'Granny' Sheila Quigley Signs New Book Deal With Random House
Sunderland 'Granny' Sheila Quigley Signs New Book Deal With Random House LONDON, January 20/PRNewswire/ -- From the moment Sheila Quigley was discovered by literary agent Darley Anderson and signed her life-changing book deal eighteen months ago, her feet have hardly touched the ground. At the age of 57, a grandmother of eight living on the Homelands Estate in Houghton-le-Spring near Sunderland, Sheila shot into the headlines when her first novel Run For Home was published following a GBP300,000 two book deal with the publishers Random House. She was immediately besieged by the press and the demand for high-profile interviews continued right up to publication. She has, however, loved every minute of the media frenzy and she has received many hundreds of fan letters, especially after she was the subject of an hour-long television documentary, shown on BBC 1 in August 2004. Now, on the eve of the paperback publication of Run For Home (published by Arrow on 20th January at GBP5.99), her agent Darley Anderson and Random House publisher Susan Sandon have agreed terms involving a high six figure advance for a new two book deal. Sheila is now hoping that everyone will love the novel she's now writing (the first in the new two book deal) as much as her first two, Run For Home and Bad Moon Rising (published by Century on 7th April at GBP9.99). Called Living on a Prayer it's about smuggling and religious cults, and it will be published in Spring 2006 by Century. About Sheila and the new deal her publisher Susan Sandon says: "We're delighted to have signed a new contract with Sheila who has fast come to feel like 'one of the family' and is much loved by all at Random House. Sheila is a wonderful writer with a truly distinctive voice who is already firmly on the road to major commercial success." Sheila Quigley is available for interviews.
