Entries Sought for 2005 UTAH INNOVATION AWARDS SALT LAKE CITY, Jan. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Utah's best high-tech innovations and the companies that created them will be recognized in the third annual Stoel Rives UTAH INNOVATION AWARDS. Entry forms are due February 16, 2005 and can be downloaded at www.stoel.com/innovation. The awards program is sponsored by Wasatch Digital iQ magazine, the Utah Engineering Experiment Station at the University of Utah, the Utah Information Technology Association and the law firm Stoel Rives LLP, with support from the MountainWest Venture Group and the Utah Life Science Association. The 2005 UTAH INNOVATION AWARDS will recognize top innovations in six areas of invention: biotechnology, chemicals, medical devices, computer software and Web services, electrical devices and mechanical devices. Last year's winners included a drug for the treatment and prevention of prostate cancer, a Web services security technology and a nano-ceramic that can be used in a broad range of applications such as optical connectors and fire-retardant building materials. The Selection Committee for the 2005 UTAH INNOVATION AWARDS is composed of leaders in private industry, government and higher education. Many are experts in the six fields of invention represented. Award winners will be announced at an awards lunch to be held Thursday, May 19, 2005 at noon in the University of Utah Olpin Ballroom. The lunch event will be held in connection with the Edison Conference, a networking and educational event for Utah inventors and entrepreneurs.
