'Aussie Angel in America'

'Aussie Angel in America' IMPACT NATION Will Reach Out to School Kids SANTA MONICA, Calif., Nov. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- On November 30th, America's big heart is about to get a whole lot bigger thanks to Adam Radly -- Australia's latest export -- and his brainchild foundation IMPACT NATION. IMPACT NATION will reach out to school kids across the nation. Its goal is to give tomorrow's decision makers a voice today -- and a chance to have a visible impact on their own communities. Radly, the brilliant young businessman and philanthropist from Melbourne, was inspired to make a difference in the world and organized World Reconciliation Day in 2000. His fellow keynote speaker was Nelson Mandela and the two formed a bond. The company Radly founded provided $1 million to the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund and his calling -- to make the world a better place -- had advanced one step. He has since become a founding director of the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund in Australia (alongside former Prime Minister Malcolm Fraser) and set up his own ambitious philanthropic organization, the Radly Center. IMPACT NATION, the Center's first initiative in the United States, is being launched today. The concept behind IMPACT NATION -- a film contest -- is simple and brilliant. Each school will select its own students to make a short film or music video of their choice. The films will be screened at a school fund raising event and all profits will go to the school and local charities chosen by the students. What makes this unique is that the kids themselves will make all decisions along the way. These voters of tomorrow will get practice voting on vital matters today. They will choose which charities will be picked as potential beneficiaries, and -- after a final vote by the whole school body -- which charity will receive the funds. The contest not only encourages creativity but also gets kids familiar with a voting process where the results can be seen right there in their local community. Certain charities will receive funding while others will not -- all based on the student body's decision. And the kids will live with that decision. A panel of judges appointed by IMPACT NATION will review the short films and music videos to determine the 10 best entries and a viewing audience will vote online to select a winner. IMPACT NATION is set to prove what kids have known all along. They are smart. They have strong opinions. They don't want adults to make all their decisions for them. Given a chance they can make important decisions themselves -- and learn to live with the consequences. It is never too early to teach kids that each vote counts. Everyone's future depends on it. Now, thanks to Adam Radly and IMPACT NATION our kids are being given a voice, and America's charities a whole new influx of heart-felt generosity.
