TORONTO, July 5, 2016 /CNW/ - Bell Media announced today the selection of Sarah Timmins as the recipient of the third annual Bell Media Executive Producer Accelerator Lab Production Apprenticeship. Having already completed the six-week Broadcaster Internship at Bell Media earlier this year, Sarah now embarks on her one-year apprenticeship with marblemedia.
Spanning the life of one program cycle, the apprenticeship will provide Sarah with the opportunity to gain further experience in a senior producing role and its associated responsibilities, and obtain insight into managing a large scripted series alongside the senior management team at marblemedia. marblemedia is an award-winning content creation company whose credits include HI OPIE, OPEN HEART, SPLATALOT, and their first primetime series ALCHEMY, currently in development, created by Karen Walton and co-produced with Cirque du Soleil Media.
"Sarah is a talented producer and extremely deserving of this opportunity," said Corrie Coe, Senior Vice-President, Independent Production, Bell Media. "marblemedia is a leader in our industry, and we feel that Sarah, as a future industry leader, is a perfect fit for them, and will bring great experience and smarts to their team while gaining valuable insight in return."
"We are very excited to work with Bell Media on this excellent program. Both companies are committed to fostering a vibrant industry and, in our evolving landscape, it is more important than ever," stated Matt Hornburg Co-CEO of marblemedia. "We are excited to have Sarah join our Scripted team. It will further bolster our ability to support domestic talent and bring great stories to the world."
With five participating producers from across Canada, the third annual Bell Media Executive Producer Accelerator Lab program began in January with the Broadcaster Internship, a six-week, group placement in which entrants studied a broad curriculum designed to give a wealth of experience in the media landscape. Producers met with senior Bell Media representatives from various departments to gain exposure to the internal operations of a Canadian broadcaster. Participants also learned about complex business and economic factors in Canadian television production and their relationship with broadcasting through seminars, panel discussions with industry experts, exploration of case studies, and coaching sessions.
