Eclipse Theaters Hosts Ceremony to Celebrate its Groundbreaking

LAS VEGAS, Dec. 8, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Eclipse Theaters, joined by its construction and financing partners, local and state officials, and members of the Las Vegas community, hosted a ceremony to celebrate its groundbreaking on November 23(rd), 2015. The planned $18+ million, eight-screen upscale venue in Downtown Las Vegas will provide a luxurious dinner-and-a-movie experience and is expected to commence operations in August 2017. The project is expected to be a boon to the local economy, providing new jobs and driving traffic to a resurgent downtown area that has been the focus of recent redevelopment efforts.

Construction on the theater, located on South 3(rd) St and Gass Avenue, began in September and was the culmination of a complex public-private financing process involving the successful utilization of the State of Nevada's New Market Tax Credit program. According to Nic Steele, Managing Director for Eclipse Theaters, "What we wanted to do is fill in the void, fill in the gaps, and really make a difference in Downtown Las Vegas. We listened to a lot of people and having a movie theater downtown is something we heard over and over again. I think Vegas is now seeing its next cycle come around and you're going to see more projects like this."

Many members of the local business and residential communities attended the ceremony to show their support for the project. A number of state and local dignitaries participated in the program including representatives from Councilman Bob Coffin's office and Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman who spoke at length during the presentation. "Revitalizing the area between Fremont Street and Sahara Boulevard has been a priority for the city council in recent years. It's great for Downtown, and for Nic Steele and his group, along with everybody that helped it get funded," Goodman said. "Go Vegas!"

With construction underway, Eclipse Theaters announced that gift cards to the theater are already available for pre-sale at a 20% discount for a limited time.
