Digiboo Debuts Fastest Wireless Movie Download for Travelers

- Debuts in 100 select locations in North America, hundreds more later 2015
- Celebrates with free new release rentals for limited promotion
SANTA MONICA, Calif., July 9, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Digiboo, a location-based retail entertainment download service that uses WiFi technology for content delivery, debuts Digiboo Zones, a speedy download "zone" in public areas for travelers to download top movie and TV content to their mobile devices in less than a minute to watch whenever they want without the need for an Internet connection The Digiboo Zones will initially be available in 100 high traffic locations, including airports, across the U.S. and Canada starting today before expanding to 2,000 locations in the next twelve months.
Traditional streaming services have yet to keep up with the bandwidth demand in public WiFi areas and airplanes, causing entertainment to download sluggishly or freeze. Content available on private networks such as airplanes is limited and the content ends as soon as the travel is completed. With Digiboo Zones, customers have a seamless experience shopping, downloading and watching movies directly onto a mobile device while experiencing the fastest wireless content download available.
"Digiboo is a breakthrough service that allows mobile customers to download a Digiboo movie to their mobile device with the fastest mobile movie download speed on earth," said Richard Cohen, CEO of Digiboo. "Digiboo doesn't require planning ahead or remembering to download before you leave your home. Our customers can quickly and conveniently pick up a movie or two for their trip without any hassle or disappointment, and they won't need to be connected to the internet to watch. This allows them the freedom to enjoy their movie anytime and anywhere."
How It Works
A Digiboo Zone is created anywhere using WiFi technology, and can be any size - from a small travel lounge to an airport, a large train station to a restaurant or café. The Digiboo Zone service is app-based, and is locally anchored by a touch screen kiosk or a hidden server in select locations. For a list of locations that currently have Digiboo Zones, please click here.
In the Digiboo Zone via the free Digiboo App, traveling customers shop, transact, and watch a large variety of movies and TV shows, including new releases and popular classics- all on their own device. Once they have chosen their movie, the content downloads directly to their mobile device in less than a minute. Encrypted files run up to 1GB per download and are optimized for mobile viewing.
Movies are available at $4.99 per download for a new release rental and $3.99 for a catalog classic rental. Each download is available for 30 days to begin watching, and viewable for 48 hours on and off line once activated. Digiboo also offers digital download movies to own at a variety of competitive prices.
Now, New Releases are FREE!
In celebration of Digiboo's expansion and the launch of the Digiboo Zones, Digiboo is offering free new release movie rentals to all customers but only for a limited promotional period this summer.
Digiboo's App and Zone content shopping functionality is currently available for iOS devices, phones and tablets via the App Store. Download is supported for Android and PC, with the direct device shopping capability scheduled to launch for Android before September.
