New Feature Film Reveals The Untold Story Of The 2010 Deepwater Horizon Explosion And Oil Spill; Provocative Fundraising Campaign Launched To Complete Production

LOS ANGELES, April 20, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- One Earth Productions is launching a provocative fundraising campaign today to raise finishing funds for its feature film in production titled, "Stealing Our Future" (http://www.stealingourfuture.com). The film reveals the untold story of the 2010 Deepwater Horizon explosion and oil spill, including the ongoing environmental contamination and human health impacts that have resulted. The announcement of the fundraising campaign comes on the five-year anniversary of the disaster.

On April 20, 2010, the Deepwater Horizon oil rig exploded in the Gulf of Mexico killing eleven men and injuring another seventeen. Over 200 million gallons of crude oil leaked into Gulf waters invading marshes and making its way onto shorelines throughout the region. After the well was capped three months later, federal officials and BP assured the public the water, the beaches and seafood were safe. In "Stealing our Future" the filmmakers reveal the environmental contamination was far more widespread and threatening than ever reported.

"In 'Stealing Our Future' we document cases of people with birth deformities, reproductive illnesses, and even people that outright died from exposure to the toxins surrounding the spill and alleged clean up effort," states director Craig Rosebraugh. The film, shot on location in the Gulf region over the last five years, exposes ongoing human health consequences resulting from exposure to either the crude oil or the Corexit dispersant BP used to allegedly clean up the spill.

The filmmakers' fundraising campaign launched today via Indiegogo, (http://igg.me/p/stealing-our-future-feature-documentary-film--2/x/10482139) a popular crowd funding platform for film financing, seeks to raise $175,000 to complete the last phase of production as well as editing, sound and picture finishing and musical composition.

"Stealing Our Future" is being produced by One Earth Productions and the filmmakers are largely the same team that created the 2013 award winning film "Greedy Lying Bastards" (http://www.greedylyingbastards.com) - which exposed the climate change denial campaign waged by the oil industry.
