Select the Winner of the Bank of the West Celebrates America Opening Band Contest

OMAHA, Neb., June 10, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Cast your vote! Music fans across the country will help determine the winner of the Bank of the West Celebrates America Opening BandContest. The winning band will experience the chance of a lifetime: opening a concert featuring Blues Traveler, Sugar Ray, Uncle Kracker and Smash Mouth at the Bank of the West Celebrates America Concerton June 27 at Memorial Park in Omaha, Neb.

A wide array of musical talent including country, metal, pop and hip hop artists entered the Bank of West contest from across the country. More than 200 entries were received during the two-week open call. The five bands who have advanced to the final round are:


-- Michael Scott Band - Thornton, Colo.
-- Ryanhood - Tucson, Ariz.
-- Shallow Like Me - Las Vegas
-- Steele & Colfax - Denver
-- The Talbott Brothers - Omaha, Neb.
The Facebook community is invited to watch the videos of the five finalists on the Bank of the West Facebook page, http://GoWe.st/Celebrates2014, then cast a vote for their favorite band. Online public voting is open from June 10 through June 16, 2014, on Bank of the West's Facebook page. Fans and followers are allowed one vote per day, every day, during the voting period. Bank of the West will announce the winning band in mid-June.

This is the fourth year of the Bank of the West Celebrates America Opening Band Contest. A panel of judges, which included talent representatives from Creative Artists Agency, Warner Music Group and Romeo Entertainment Group, narrowed the band entries to the five finalists.

Bank of the West Celebrates America has been an Omaha tradition for 24 years. The annual concert and fireworks finale kicks off the city's Fourth of July festivities, and it is one of the largest free outdoor concerts in the country, drawing more than 60,000 people.
