Loudon Wainwright III's Genre-Busting New LP 'Haven't Got The Blues (Yet)' Out Sept 9th on 429 Records
One-Man Show 'Surviving Twin,' Featuring Songs from New LP, Debuts June 9th at Westside Theater in NYC
SANTA MONICA, Calif., June 10, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- "Where does one go after death n' decay?" asks Loudon Wainwright, contemplating the genesis of his new LP, 'Haven't Got The Blues (Yet)' out Sept 9 via 429 Records. The answer: "Alternate side street parking, of course!" The follow up to 2012's acclaimed 'Older Than My Old Man Now' is a 14-song, genre-busting collection of sharp, poignant songs about depression, drinking, senior citizenship, gun control, heartbreak, pet ownership and yes, New York City's arcane practice of alternate side parking.

'Haven't Got The Blues (Yet)' features fourteen original songs written by Loudon, and was produced by his long-time musical collaborator David Mansfield, who also backed Loudon on 2010's Grammy-winning 'High Wide & Handsome-The Charlie Poole Project.' The new album also features banjo master Tony Trischka, saxophonist Steve Elson (David Bowie, Radiohead, Stevie Ray Vaughn), drummer Sammy Merendino (Michael Jackson, Billy Joel, Lou Reed) and bassist Tim Luntzel (Rosanne Cash, Bright Eyes). In addition, Aofie O'Donovan and Loudon's daughter Martha Wainwright lend backing vocals.
In advance of the September release, Loudon is starring in his own one-man show at Manhattan's Westside Theatre in June. 'Surviving Twin' is an 80-minute "posthumous collaboration" in which Loudon weaves some of his best songs with the writing of his late father, Loudon Wainwright Jr., the esteemed LIFE Magazine columnist. The show will include several songs from 'Haven't Got The Blues (Yet),' as well as spoken word written by both Loudon and his father. It runs four Mondays in June, starting the 9(th). Loudon's 2012 album 'Older Than My Old Man Now,' was lauded as a high point of his career, landing him major spotlights in the New York Times, Fresh Air + more, and a performance on Letterman.
