New Amsterdam® Vodka Brings "It's Your Town" Advertising Campaign to Life by Partnering with the 48 Hour Film Project

Leading Spirits Brand Celebrates Local Pride on the Silver Screen

MODESTO, Calif., June 12, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Rapidly growing spirits brand New Amsterdam® Vodka announced today the launch of its partnership with 48 Hour Film Project. A madcap filmmaking contest, the 48 Hour Film Project (48HFP) will visit more than 120 cities in 2014 where more than 60,000 people will compete to make high-quality, short films in just 48 hours.

In addition to sponsoring events in all US-based 48HFP cities, New Amsterdam and the 48HFP will conduct a national filmmaking competition. The top five teams from 25 select cities will be invited to participate in the New Amsterdam "It's Your Town" Competition. The New Amsterdam "It's Your Town" Competition will challenge filmmakers to bring the New Amsterdam brand platform to life on screen.

New Amsterdam's "It's Your Town" advertising campaign celebrates a generation that revels in a night out on the town, but with a sense of responsibility and pride in the community. Filmmakers will produce short docu-style films that provide an insider's view to the people and places that make a city different, focusing on the local stories outsiders wouldn't normally see. At the close of the competition, a screening of a selection of New Amsterdam "It's Your Town" films will be shown at the 48HFP's culminating celebration: Filmapalooza 2015. Films will also be available to view on New Amsterdam's website and social media channels.

"The 'It's Your Town' campaign focuses on the feeling of ownership of your city, local pride, and the unabashed celebration of socializing, because with New Amsterdam Vodka--it's your town," said Gerard Thoukis, senior director of marketing, New Amsterdam Spirits. "We partnered with 48HFP to bring this platform to life in a highly visual and compelling way."

Added Mark Ruppert, co-executive producer of the 48 Hour Film Project, "Brought together by creativity, skill and a sense of adventure, the 48 Hour Film Project celebrates those who embody the New Amsterdam platform--they thrive on excitement. In tandem with New Amsterdam, we're thrilled to give our filmmakers the opportunity to bottle the pride and ownership they feel for their own cities, and share it on screen with a wider audience."

Additionally, Thrillist Media Group will help build buzz around New Amsterdam's "It's Your Town" film series by creating a sweepstakes program on Thrillist.com allowing consumers to attend 48HFP screening events and after parties in local markets. Entry will also put consumers in the running to receive a "Night on Your Town" grand prize $500 gift card.

New Amsterdam Vodka was introduced in 2011 and sold one million cases in its first 12 months in market, making it the fastest spirits brand in history to do so.
