Revolution Messaging Wins Five Reed Awards For Exemplary Political Campaign Work

Full Service Digital Firm Recognized for Creativity and Technology Development

WASHINGTON, Feb. 11, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Washington's leading digital strategy company, Revolution Messaging, has been recognized for its pioneering work on behalf of progressive advocacy organizations, winning five Reed Awards from Campaigns & Elections, the professional journal for political consultants.

Revolution Messaging walked away with the award for "best use of viral marketing" - for its Drunk Dial Congress initiative during last fall's government shutdown -- and "best use of social media engagement" on behalf of the women's rights campaign Lady Parts Justice. They were also recognized for creating the "best villain", the "toughest television advertisement" and even the "best website focused on independent expenditure, public affairs advocacy or a ballot initiative."

"We're grateful to Campaigns & Elections for the recognition, and especially to our clients for supporting the work we do in pushing the boundaries of communication in the digital space," Revolution Messaging's founder and CEO Scott Goodstein said.

Last October, Revolution built a microsite, DrunkDialCongress.org and invited furloughed government workers to enter their phone number and get connected to a random member of Congress so they could offer a piece of their mind about the 16-day shutdown. The site, which went viral attracted almost 700,000 unique visitors and generated 100,000 calls.

The tough television advertisement was created for UltraViolet and MoveOn.org and aggressively promoted the passage of the Violence against Women Act.

The "best villain" campaign was awarded to Cardboard Ken, a cut-out of Virginia gubernatorial candidate Ken Cuccinelli used in an ad sponsored by NARAL Pro-Choice America that highlighted his regressive views on abortion and contraception.

Revolution Messaging was not only awarded for their creativity but also their technology. The team brought home the award for "Best website" for their work with the Teamsters Union on developing a truly unique web experience that works on all tablets, desktops and mobile phones.

"What these awards show is our creativity, our ability for aggressive rapid response within the news cycle, and our understanding of the digital media landscape with many different organizations covering issues across the spectrum," Goodstein said. "That's what our clients are looking for when they hire us, and that's what we deliver."
