New Music/Lyric Video for "I Wonder" Premieres Online

NEW YORK, Oct. 17, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Searching For Sugar Man, the original motion picture soundtrack album from the Academy Award winning documentary, has sold more than 500,000 copies around the world. An anthology of originally overlooked songs written and performed by Rodriguez in 1969-71, the Searching For Sugar Man soundtrack provides a powerful introduction to an uncompromising musical visionary.

"Thank you to the fans," said Rodriguez. "It's an honor and a pleasure to be heard."

The film and its soundtrack have generated a resurgence of interest in the music of Rodriguez, who has been performing extensively since the movie's release with concert dates in North America, Europe, South Africa and Australia. He recently played New York City with fall concerts at the Barclays Center and Radio City Music Hall.

A new music/lyric video for Rodriguez's "I Wonder" has premiered online and may be viewed at http://smarturl.it/rodriguez_rs.

A truly international phenomenon, the Searching For Sugar Man album is available in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, the Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, the UK, and the United States.

The first Rodriguez album to chart in the US, the Searching For Sugar Man soundtrack reached #3 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart, #6 on the Folk chart and #163 on the Billboard 200. The soundtrack album has been certified Gold in South Africa, France, Sweden and Poland.

The artistry of Rodriguez--a Detroit-based cult musician who'd written and recorded two obscure albums, Cold Fact (1970) and Coming From Reality (1971), before fading into the footnotes of underground American music--has been discovered anew thanks to Searching For Sugar Man, a critically-acclaimed documentary directed by Malik Bendjelloul and the film's soundtrack album, available from Legacy Recordings/Light In The Attic Records.
