'If You Can Make It Here...' Takes on New Meaning at One New York Venue

NEW YORK, Sept. 17, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- For many talented performers, including aspiring artists of all genres, the opening line of "New York, New York"--the song first recorded in 1979 by Frank Sinatra, which he re-recorded in duet with Tony Bennett--resonates: "Start spreadin' the news, I'm leaving today. One hallmark of "making it" in New York is an appearance at Madison Square Garden. Yet for many bands who have gathered momentum but are not yet ready to pack the Garden with 25,000 screaming fans, there is another iconic performance space that says "we're making it" in New York: the Hammerstein Ballroom at Manhattan Center.
